Average Holiday Spending on the Rise

Stress abounds when it comes to holiday spending, and it’s no wonder. The National Retail Federation has predicted a 4.1 percent increase in sales this year over last, bringing the average household spending to a whopping $786 just on gift-giving. It’s broken down into:

  • $459.87 on gifts for family
  • $80.00 on gifts for friends
  • $26.03 on colleagues
  • $30.43 on other people (think mail carrier, hairdresser, etc.)

While this is great news for business owners, it’s not such great news for spendy givers. What’s your approach to holiday gifting? Tweet your thoughts and giving strategies to our community on Twitter: @StrategyMgZine.
